Love Card Concept

January 31, 2015

I couldn't resist playing along when I saw this challenge.  The inspiration photo at The Card Concept is so fun!  Seriously... the wood grain, yarn wrapped letters, a heart banner...
need I say more?
http://thecardconcept.blogspot.com/2015/01/challenge-27-love.html
I just loved the yarn wrapped letters.  So, I found some wood arrow embellishments and wrapped them with some floss in similar colors to the picture.  These arrows were then adhered to some hearts that I die cut and layered together.  Then I hand wrote 'love' for the finishing touch.

This was the first time that I have used wood veneer with a die cut.  It cut amazingly!  And I look forward to using it again in the future.  How about you?  Have you die cut wood veneer before?
Well, thank you for stopping by.  There are so many great cards submitted for this challenge.  I really appreciate that you chose to come check out what I made.  Oh, and I'm also linking up over at Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge 'anything goes'.

Papertrey January Blog Hop Challenge

January 25, 2015

http://nicholeheady.typepad.com/capture_the_moment/2015/01/january-2015-blog-hop.html

Hello!  I am so excited... because today is the 25th of the month.  Which means Blog Hop
over at Papertrey Ink.... And I have a card to share!  Yeah!!

Again, I found a pocket card among my collection from Studio Calico Project Life kits.  This card had these lovely hearts on it which I then fussy cut... Then I die cut that swirly 'hello'.  The scripty swirls make me swoon... This die is from Studio Calico.  It is NBUS that is going to get lots of use!

I stamped 'friend' from the Wet Paint set by PTI using Smoky Shadow ink.  This was on a strip of white cardstock adhered directly to the white card base.  I'm really diggin' the mix of the swirly font of the die with the crisp linear font of the stamp.  Then, foam adhesive was used to adhere the hearts. And a few white sequins were the finishing touch.

Not only was I thinking of a special friend, but I had a few other challenges in mind while I was creating it, too.  The cue card at CASology is 'friend'... The Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge is 'Have a Heart'... And I love the sketches over at CAS(E) this sketch.  I usually take sketches very literal.  So, I really enjoyed stretching the creative limit on this one.  Too much fun!

Hooray!

January 18, 2015

Hello there!  I'm so happy to be here posting a new card for Make it Monday.
This week, Laurie shows us how to make our own foam stickers.  Cool, huh?
Plus, the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge is 'It's a Guy Thing'.  Which
is great because I have another masculine birthday card.  With more to come, too!

I certainly had a 'why didn't I think of this?' moment, and couldn't wait to give
homemade foam stickers a try.  I decided to use some fun foam that I had in
my stash.  Let me tell you, this stuff cuts amazingly with the die cuts!  Again,
'why didn't I think of this?'.  Simply brilliant!

So, with some fun foam and a PTI number die, I cut out this big cool '3' to be
the star of this card.  Then I found this stripey pocket card from a Studio Calico
project life kit.  With this, I die cut three candles with another PTI die.  The
sentiments were stamped from a set I received in a Studio Calico kit.  This set
actually falls in the NBUS category...  Love that I'm using my NBUS more now
than ever!  Thanks again, Darnell!!  Finally, I decided that the space of the die
cut candles really needed to be stamped with the coordinating set, Make A Wish,
for visual happiness.  I'm sure the little guy who is going to be receiving this
card would totally agree.  *wink*  So, I stamped those candles, popped up the
stripey layer, and adhered the '3'.

Voilà!  Another masculine card for a special little guy.  Too much fun!
It's getting a little late to join in over at Make it Monday... But, I really
recommend giving a try at making homemade foam stickers.  I know
I'll be making more of my own in the future.  Until then, thanks for
stopping by.  And I hope you visit again soon!

Hey Hey!

January 14, 2015

Hey there!  Thanks for stopping by.  I've got a card to share today.  I made this
one for my brother-in-law's birthday.  It was on Sunday and he already got this
in the mail.  So, no spoiler alert here.  ~ Hope you had a great day, Kelly!

So, have you heard all about 'NBUS'?  You probably have... But, just in case,
NBUS stands for Never Before Used Schtuff.  Yep!  The brilliant Darnell over
at djkardkreations invented this little beauty of an acronym.  Then she created
a challenge for us all to join in on the fun of using our NBUS with her... Yeah!

I found my inspiration from this card.  It is in the Signatures Sketches from
January's Inspiration Archive at Nichole Heady's blog, Capture the Moment.
I also used the color combo from the Color Play.  Beautiful colors, huh?
And since I hadn't busted out my Ombre Builders stamp set yet...  Well, it
just seemed like a perfect way to use some of my NBUS.  Too much fun!

The sentiment is from a set that I got in a Studio Calico kit.  Each line is a
different stamp.  So, it was really easy to create each strip.  Then I popped
them up with some foam adhesive.  That gave the card just the right amount
of extra touch that I felt it needed.  Masculine cards... keep 'em CAS, right?

I hope you get a chance to create with your NBUS and join the fun.
Bonus: CAS-ology has joined in on the NBUS craze and their current
challenge's cue card is NBUS.  Thank you, Darnell.  You inspire so many!

janelle
