Feeling HOT HOT HOT

February 8, 2015

Hello there!  Have you seen the cue card over at CAS-ology?  Things are getting HOT over there... and I've got a card to add some flames to the fire. *wink*
http://casology.blogspot.com/2015/02/week-132-hot.html
I purchased some embossing folders awhile ago... and one of them was this flame background.  NBUS, anyone?  So, I was very excited to bust this out when I saw the word 'HOT'.
I embossed some white cardstock and die cut a heart out.  Then, I sponged some yellow, orange, and red ink over the flames.  So much fun!  After searching through some sentiments, I decided to create my own.  Once again, I found myself making foam letters... with more sponging of ink, some letter die cuts, and adhesive foam board.  Then a couple sentiment strips and more foam adhesive were added to complete my card.
I'm just thrilled to have had this inspiration.  Now, I have this card ready to give my hubs for Valentine's Day.  Yay!  Are you feeling the heat?  There's a little more time to link up over at CAS-ology.

Love Card Concept

January 31, 2015

I couldn't resist playing along when I saw this challenge.  The inspiration photo at The Card Concept is so fun!  Seriously... the wood grain, yarn wrapped letters, a heart banner...
need I say more?
http://thecardconcept.blogspot.com/2015/01/challenge-27-love.html
I just loved the yarn wrapped letters.  So, I found some wood arrow embellishments and wrapped them with some floss in similar colors to the picture.  These arrows were then adhered to some hearts that I die cut and layered together.  Then I hand wrote 'love' for the finishing touch.

This was the first time that I have used wood veneer with a die cut.  It cut amazingly!  And I look forward to using it again in the future.  How about you?  Have you die cut wood veneer before?
Well, thank you for stopping by.  There are so many great cards submitted for this challenge.  I really appreciate that you chose to come check out what I made.  Oh, and I'm also linking up over at Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge 'anything goes'.

Hello!
Have you tried the 10 Minute Craft Dash Challenge?

I think I'm hooked!
Plus, the new challenge consists of a fun color combo which was hard to resist.  As Paulina said so herself, "...a fresh color palette that can be used for all sorts of occasions."

The current sketch over at Retro Sketches looked really fun.  So, I decided to combine the challenges.  I don't know about you, but I haven't made a square card in forever!

With sketch and design in mind, I gathered up some supplies & tools, hit start on the good ol' iphone stopwatch, and proceeded to make my card.

8:30.3

Whoo-hoo!
With this card, I really tried hard to go at a normal pace instead of the insane speed I used the first time I tried this timed challenge.  However, when those minutes started accumulating, my pace certainly began to pick up as well.  (haha!)

Plus, I thought I'd use my foam dots instead of cutting foam pieces from a roll to save time... Not so much.  I found that I have a harder time getting the backs off of the dots.
Oh well.  I learn something new with every challenge.

Thanks for stopping by!

janelle

Hello!
Here today to share a card for the  CAS-ual Fridays Challenge.

I had so much fun playing last week that I had to join in again.
Everyone is so friendly, creative, and supportive over at this challenge.
Thank you to everyone who left comments and visited my 'mapquest' cards.

I'm kind of racing to the finish line to get this linked up in time.
Only one good photo...  But, lots of fun goodies.
I'll edit in details about these goodies later today, 'cause I gotta run!

Okay, I'm back...  and supplies have been added below.

How about that badge?!?  If you know any bacon lovers, then you will want to check out some of Kelly Purkey's bacon themed supplies.  So fun!  They are hard to resist though.  Kind of like bacon.

Overall, this was a super fun challenge.  I really like designs were elements hang off of the card front...  But, I struggle with the whole 'fitting in an envelope' thing.  Anyone else out there with this crafty OCD issue??  Well, I think I conquered my fear here and I had a great time doing it.  Now, I'm off to see the other fabulous cards entered this week.

Thanks for visiting!

xo,
janelle
